Inktober the 31st.

Several days late and several dollars short. Too busy Halloween night to finish Inktober and then was feeling sickly for the last couple of days. So now here it is for your enjoyment. My 31st drawing for Inktober.

Inktober the 30th. Not all Birds.

Not all of them grow up to be beautiful swans. Some begin humble and a little ugly but become swift song birds.

Inktober 29th Almost the End.

Freehand ink drawing for October 29th. We've nearly reached the end of Inktober and already I look forward to Inktober 2017.

Inktober the 28th for the late Iain M. Banks.

What brings you to "The Last Party", located on the Equatorial 353, a giant derigible navigating the circumference of the planet inside the hollow tube struts of a worldwide bit of incomprehensible architecture and art left behind by a race long since sublimed into pure energy? Only a small hitch before our civilization ends as we know it.
And don't ask me why the main character has four arms. Read a book why don't you.

The Hydrogen Sonata by Iain M. Banks.

Inktober the 27th Coming to a Close.

Inktober the 27th is coming to a close. I was thinking about the long and winding road. When you turn a corner and are totally surprised by what you see before you.

Inktober the 26th.

Inktober the 26th. All at the edge of town.

Inktober the 25th

Inktober the 25th:
The presidential race continues to heat up.
Both candidates are stumping hard in Florida. Trump has resorted to throwing racist alligators at the former secretary of state. Little did he know, she's a master of Savate, repelling even racist cajun alligators.
How do I know those are racist alligators? All crocodilians are racist.

Inktober the 24th.

Minister in the lower depths. Giving backrubs to cranky judges and poking reticent souls. I thought I had a crummy job. Some things you just have to work through.

Inktober 22nd

Inktober 22nd: volunteering at the lodge for the Annual Puzzle Room Dinner has got me wondering, are there secret societies on other extra-dimensional planes?

Inktober 21st

Well tonight is the first performance for the Mystery Puzzle Room dinner. So in anticipation I've finished Inktober 21st  early so I don't fall behind yet another day. Ahhh hahh!

Inktober 20th

Another big to do at the Lodge and I fell behind another day. Inktober 20th.

Inktober 19th

Was helping out with a Puzzle Room being set up the Lodge and another random errand in North Minneapolis. Fell behind again. Inktober the 19th wasn't quit what I expected.

Inktober the 18th We don't need roads.

Inktober the 18th. My other ride is this.
Remember, "infinity welcomes careful drivers".

Monday, October 17, 2016

The days of Inktober are getting shorter. The lines between the immortal and mortal world become thin and frayed. All Hallowe's Eve approaches.

Inktober the 17th.

Sunday, October 16, 2016

Inktober the 16th. Fiesta. Inktober is still going strong. Tomorrow is another day.

Inktober the 15th

Chuck E. Cheese just opened another neighborhood up in hell.
Inktober 15th. Half mecha, half audio animatronic creeping horror.

That's pretty odd. Even for me.

Inktober 14th Recedes

For Inktober 14th we need a sexy robot. Doesn't look sexy enough? You aren't another robot, are you?

Inktober 13th: Night of the Crakewolf

Today I give you the Crakewolf. Because you asked for it. No seriously because you've never heard of it.
That's just sad.

Inktober the Thirteenth.

Inktober the 12th

Inktober the 12th.

My wife and friends are so excited about the new Doctor Strange with Benedict Cumberbatch. Ah Benedict. I am as well. Such a premiere event. Such an event deserves a fitting tribute. Without further ado, I give you...

Inktober the 11th

Inktober the 11th. A slightly creepier theme for October slipping closer to Halloween.

Alternate caption: " You're lucky my girlfriend's here."

Monday, October 10, 2016

Inktober the 10th.

Inktober the Tenth. According to some of the stories in Greek myth, not all the Titans sided with Chronos. The Cyclopians taught Zeus the power of harnessing lightning. The Hundred-handed Ones freed Zeus from his bonds when Chronos imprisoned him during the War with the Titans and the Olympians.

Super Hummingbirds! Super Hummingbirds!

Seriously: Inktober the Ninth. Today the second presidential debate. Needs popcorn.

Saturday, October 8, 2016

Inktober the Eighth. Welcoming to Week Number Two. And a great quote by Omar Khayyam.
A long day at work followed by cutting down Callas until sundown. Pretty worn out. Cartooned something light-hearted and quick. Inktober 7th.

Almost Caught Up

On the Sixth Day of Inktober....

I got a little punch drunk and sketched a visual play on words that is funny to me and probably about a half dozen other people who work locally at the same place I do. And also have a special place in their heart for Depeche Mode.

I give you, extreme custom made puns and other word play. Enjoy.

On the Fifth Day of Inktober

Isn't he handsome. Artist rendering of a folkloric character I was first made aware of by a novel by Midori Snyder. The Night Hatchet. A wanderer in the dark and lonely places of withered wood and out of place objects including the strange door in its chest which protects its heart, withered and desiccated like an empty spider egg case.

Inktober the Fourth

Inktober the 4th. One more character type sketch from the novel in the works. A Knight of the Pure Symbol. A high fallutin' name for a soldier of The Legion of the Pure Symbol. A rot that grew as a result of the corruption within the Old Dominium that has turned into a competing power in Interterrestrial Politics. Think Scientology with a space navy.

Third Day of Inktober

This sketch will stand in for the third day for Inktober 2016. An Old Dominium Infantry Soldier. Otherwise known as a Dominium Dog by those who have to tangle with them because their communication gear resembles the ears of a canine, cocked as though listening.

Second Day of Inktober

Don't judge me!
Just play along. Second day of Inktober. Character climbing from command module to astrogator's hemisphere. Wide angle shot, hence the very close right hand.

Inktober Fest 2016 Six Days Late

So you may have noticed I haven't updated this blog in a while. You might surmise I posted something about "Parallel Man" and then lost all will to blog.

Not true. Merely a coincidence. I have not updated this blog in about two years. In my defence, it was a rough two years.

Anyway, trying to get back in the swing of things. Wanted to get involved in Inktober 2015, but didn't hear about it until November of last year. Oops. Trying to do better this year, although I am honestly not sure whether it is technically even going on this year. Well, whether it is or not, I'm going to do it this year. Already off to a rocky start however, had to knock out six ink drawings on the sixth because I was already behind.

Anyway, Day 1 Inktober. Maugee welcomes a new member into the clan. A peripheral character from a novel I am working on.
